Transport access and hotel guide

Overview

Novotel Nara is an eight-minute walk from Shin-Omiya Station, with 264 rooms, public baths, several places to eat and drink, and facilities for working. Nara Prefectural Convention Center is about two minutes away on foot, and scheduled buses run directly from there to Kansai International Airport and Osaka Itami Airport.

The hotel is west of Nara's main sightseeing streets. Kintetsu trains and complimentary hotel shuttles help with trips toward central Nara, but Nara Park and Naramachi aren't places you can simply step outside and explore.

Rooms

Standard doubles and twins begin at 24 square meters, with shower-only and bathtub layouts available. Superior Twins measure 32 square meters, while the 34-square-meter family category adds two sofa beds. Connecting room combinations are also available.

Tatami rooms combine two beds and futons in a 35-square-meter layout. Executive rooms and suites occupy the upper floors and include Executive Lounge access, while the largest suite reaches 70 square meters. Families and longer-stay guests therefore have choices that go well beyond bed type alone.

Facilities

Guest-only public baths provide a place to soak before or after sightseeing. The second-floor wellness area also has a fitness room with Technogym equipment, coin laundry, and a work lounge with private booths for calls. There's no sauna.

Paid parking is available, although spaces are limited and can't be reserved. Luggage can be stored before check-in and after check-out, which helps when arrival or departure times don't align with the room schedule.

Dining

Trattoria Ponte Nara serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with Italian cooking shaped by local ingredients. The ground-floor Social Lounge covers coffee, afternoon tea, and drinks. In the evening, the Rooftop Terrace becomes a bar with views across Nara and the surrounding mountains.

Guests staying on the Executive floors or in suites can also use the Executive Lounge. Together, these venues allow you to eat, work, or have a quiet drink without returning to central Nara each time.

Location and transport

Novotel Nara is in Nara Convention Center Area, between central Nara and Heijo Palace Site. Shin-Omiya is the nearest railway station, and Kintetsu Nara is one stop east. JR Nara Station is farther away, at about 19 minutes on foot.

Complimentary hotel shuttles supplement local trains and buses. Routes, boarding points, and times can change, so check the current hotel guide before planning an arrival around them.

Airport access

Nara Prefectural Convention Center, about two minutes from the hotel, has scheduled limousine buses to both Kansai International Airport and Osaka Itami Airport. This is direct airport service from a nearby public stop, not a private hotel shuttle.

Airport-bound departures may require advance reservations. Check the current Nara Kotsu timetable against your flight, particularly for early or late travel.

Why stay here

An airport-bus arrival, a conference schedule, or a family stay becomes easier with the convention center stop close by, larger room options, and public baths in the same building. The tradeoff is the distance from Nara Park and the main evening streets, where a train, shuttle, bus, or taxi is usually more comfortable than walking.

Heijo Palace Site provides a substantial outing on the western side of Nara. Reconstructed gates, palace buildings, and archaeological displays are spread across a broad historic park, so the site rewards more time than a quick stop between central sights.

Good to know

Some Standard and Executive rooms have shower booths rather than bathtubs. Check the exact bathroom layout when booking; the public baths provide a separate soaking option for hotel guests.
