Overview
A breakfast room that becomes a free daytime cafe and workspace gives Montblanc Hotel Raffine Nagoya Ekimae an advantage beyond its guest rooms. The hotel is three minutes on foot from Nagoya Station's Sakura-dori Exit, close to JR and Shinkansen departures but not directly connected to the rail complex.
All 239 rooms are non-smoking, with layouts ranging from compact doubles to a room for three or four guests. Breakfast, self-service luggage lockers, and four coin-operated washer-dryers cover the essentials for short city visits and trips planned around train schedules.
Rooms
Standard rooms measure 16 square meters and have a 140-centimeter bed. Double rooms provide 18 to 21 square meters with a 160-centimeter bed, while the 24- to 25-square-meter twin categories give each guest a separate bed and more floor space.
The 26.5-square-meter Triple/Quad room has three 110-centimeter beds and a sofa bed for a fourth guest. It's the most flexible option for a small group. Some Standard and Double rooms have an overhead shower instead of a bathtub, so check the exact category if a bath matters to you.
Facilities
Self-service lockers are available before check-in and after check-out. Four washer-dryers are on the second floor, and their availability can be checked on the tablet in each room. Prepaid guests can also use the automatic check-in machines.
The front desk is staffed around the clock. Vending machines, an ice machine, and a microwave share the second-floor service area, while every room has a drip coffeemaker.
Dining
Cafe Style Raffine serves a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM, with final entry at 9:00 AM. The menu uses ingredients from Nagoya and Aichi, including local egg and tofu products, and guests can prepare their own ogura toast.
After breakfast, the room becomes a cafe and coworking space from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Overnight guests can use it free of charge, with self-service drinks included. It's especially handy before an evening train or between appointments.
Location and transport
Nagoya Station's Sakura-dori Exit is three minutes away on foot. JR operates Tokaido Shinkansen and regional services, while the subway is usually the simplest way to reach Fushimi and Sakae. Meitetsu and Kintetsu use separate gates elsewhere in the station district, so allow extra time when changing operators with luggage.
The street-level entrance is on the northeastern side of the rail complex, near JR Gate Tower, KITTE Nagoya, and the underground shopping passages around Meieki. There is no direct station connection.
Airport access
Meitetsu Nagoya is about six minutes away on foot. Direct Mu-Sky trains reach Central Japan International Airport in as little as 28 minutes, while regular express services take about 35 minutes.
The train journey is direct once you're aboard, but the hotel doesn't have an airport shuttle. Mu-Sky requires both a regular fare ticket and a first-class car ticket.
Why stay here
The short walk to Nagoya Station helps with early JR departures and brief stopovers, while the breakfast room remains useful throughout the day. For groups of three or four, the Triple/Quad category can avoid the need to book two compact rooms. The tradeoff is no direct station connection or on-site parking.
The surrounding Nagoya Station Area brings together department stores and indoor shopping around JR Gate Tower, Takashimaya, and KITTE Nagoya. Farther across this side of the city, Noritake Garden and the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology add sightseeing options beyond the station district.
Good to know
Check-in begins at 3:00 PM, and check-out is by 10:00 AM. The hotel has no parking, so drivers need to use a nearby paid lot.
The building is locked between 1:00 AM and 5:00 AM, although the front desk operates 24 hours. If you'll arrive or return during that period, confirm the late-night entry procedure in advance.
