Overview
Water surrounds Kobe Meriken Park Oriental Hotel on three sides. Inside Meriken Park beside Kobe Port Tower, all 323 guest rooms have private balconies overlooking the harbor, city, or Rokko mountains. The view is the point.
The hotel forms part of the Kobe Motomachi / Nankinmachi waterfront district. Four restaurants and bars, a sports club, meeting rooms, and on-site parking provide the facilities of a full-service resort, though the park setting leaves the nearest rail stations eight to fifteen minutes away on foot.
Rooms
Rooms range from singles and doubles to twins and suites across Standard, Moderate, Comfort, and Executive categories. Direction matters as much as room type: west-facing rooms overlook Harborland, east-facing rooms take in the harbor, north-facing rooms look toward the city and mountains, and south-facing rooms open across the water.
Every room has a balcony, the clearest distinction from a conventional city-center stay. Executive rooms add lounge access, personal check-in, late checkout, sports club admission for guests aged 18 or older, and restaurant discounts. Check-in begins at 3:00 p.m., and checkout is at noon.
Facilities
A third-floor self-service cloakroom and convenience store help with early arrivals, late departures, and small purchases. Other facilities include ten banquet and meeting rooms, a chapel, shops, an aromatherapy salon, and paid parking for about 300 cars.
Sports Club VIVO on the fifth floor has an indoor pool, sauna, and training equipment. Regular guests pay a separate fee, while Executive room benefits include admission. Access is limited to adults aged 18 or older, and it's worth checking current hours and inspection closures in advance.
Dining
Terrace & Dining All Flags serves buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner beside the harbor, with outdoor terrace seating when conditions allow. On the fourteenth floor, Steak House Oriental prepares Kobe beef and seasonal ingredients, Toukashun serves Cantonese cuisine, and View Bar pairs drinks with panoramic night views.
Together, the four venues cover breakfast, full evening meals, and a quieter drink without leaving the waterfront. Opening days and service hours vary, so check the current schedule if you're planning around a particular restaurant.
Location and transport
Minato-Motomachi Station on the Kaigan Line is about eight minutes away from Exit 2. JR and Hanshin Motomachi Station are roughly 15 minutes away, with broader east-west connections toward Sannomiya, Osaka, Himeji, and western Hyogo.
A scheduled free shuttle connects the hotel with Sannomiya Station in about 20 minutes, departing from stop 8 at the MINT KOBE bus terminal. A separate free shuttle to Shin-Kobe Station takes about 30 minutes but runs only on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. JR Kobe Station is about five minutes away by taxi.
Airport access
Kobe Airport is about 20 minutes away by taxi. By public transport, the Port Liner reaches Sannomiya in about 18 minutes, followed by the hotel's scheduled shuttle or a taxi for the final leg.
Limousine buses reach Sannomiya in about 65 minutes from Kansai International Airport and 40 minutes from Osaka Itami Airport. The hotel shuttle can cover the final section when timetables align, but neither journey provides a direct airport transfer to the door.
Why stay here
Private balconies, broad harbor views, and immediate access to Meriken Park define the stay more than rail convenience. Kobe Port Tower, the Kobe Maritime Museum, the BE KOBE monument, and waterfront cruise boarding points are nearby, while Harborland extends west along the bay.
The compromise is distance from the rail network. Minato-Motomachi has the shortest walk, Motomachi provides more useful regional connections, and the Sannomiya shuttle can reduce luggage handling when its timetable matches your arrival.
Good to know
The Sannomiya and Shin-Kobe shuttles follow fixed timetables, and road traffic can affect journey times. Direct Shin-Kobe service doesn't run on weekdays, so you'll need a taxi or a transfer through Sannomiya outside weekends and public holidays.
Sports club admission isn't included with every room. Standard guests pay separately, users must be at least 18, and the pool or gym may close on inspection days.
