Overview
Leave Sendai Station through the West Exit and Hotel Metropolitan Sendai is on the left, about a minute away. The hotel adjoins the west side of the rail complex, with S-PAL's shopping floors accessible from the basement and Shinkansen, regional trains, subway services, and city buses close by.
With 295 rooms, three restaurants, a lobby lounge, and a bar, this is a fuller-service stay. The west-side location keeps the main bus pool and central Sendai shopping streets on the same side of the concourse.
Rooms
Rooms range from 18.1-square-metre doubles to larger doubles, twins, executive-floor rooms, and suites. Standard twins measure 27.9 square metres and can sleep three, while 36-square-metre concept twins give two guests noticeably more room.
Groups have several additional choices. Two Japanese suites accommodate four or six guests, and a 96-square-metre Japanese-style room sleeps up to eight on futons. The 110-square-metre Royal Suite is the largest option, and an accessible twin is also available. Layouts vary considerably, so it's worth comparing room types rather than booking on location alone.
Facilities
Free Wi-Fi is available in the guest rooms and lobby. A basement connection leads directly into S-PAL's shopping, food, and souvenir floors, handy for a meal or last-minute purchase without going far from the building.
A nursing room and foreign-currency exchange machine are available around the lobby level. Paid parking accommodates 100 vehicles, but reservations aren't accepted and the lot may fill. Drivers should keep a backup option in mind during busy periods.
Dining
Breakfast is served as a buffet at Serenity or as a Japanese set at Hayase, with both restaurants opening at 6:30. Room-service breakfast provides another option for a slower start.
Later, Serenity serves French-influenced dishes prepared with Tohoku ingredients. Hayase focuses on seasonal Japanese cooking and Sendai beef at its teppanyaki counter, while Touri serves Chinese cuisine. The lobby lounge is available for tea and sweets, and the bar offers somewhere to finish the evening after the restaurants close.
Location and transport
The hotel is in the Sendai Station Area, beside the West Exit route for the city bus pool, taxis, and Loople Sendai sightseeing buses. JR and Shinkansen platforms are reached through the station, while the Namboku and Tozai subway lines cover trips across central Sendai.
West-side plans are the natural fit here. The covered shopping arcades begin beyond the pedestrian deck, and buses for downtown districts depart from this side. East-side hotels shorten trips toward Miyagino-dori, but staying there means crossing the concourse for many west-side buses and shopping streets.
Airport access
Sendai Airport Access Line trains travel directly between Sendai Airport and Sendai Station in about 25 minutes. After arriving, follow signs for the West Exit and complete the journey with the one-minute walk to the hotel. No additional train or bus transfer is needed.
This is rail access, not a hotel-door airport service. Check the timetable when an early flight or late arrival leaves little room for delay.
Why stay here
An early Shinkansen, a late rail arrival, or several days of regional trips are easier when the platforms, breakfast, dinner, and everyday shopping are gathered around the same complex. The broad room range also gives couples and groups more choice than a compact station-side business hotel.
The west side is convenient for sightseeing too. Loople Sendai departs from the West Exit for Zuihoden, the Site of Sendai Castle, and Osaki Hachimangu Shrine, while the covered arcades offer shopping, local food, and souvenirs closer to the hotel.
Good to know
Hotel Metropolitan Sendai and Hotel Metropolitan Sendai East are separate hotels. Follow West Exit directions for this hotel; the east-side Metropolitan is on the opposite side of the station. The distinction matters with luggage.
