Overview
Hotel Grand Cocoe Kurashiki is part of Achi Terrace Kurashiki, about three minutes on foot from Kurashiki Station. The Bikan Historical Area is roughly six minutes away. Leave your bags at reception before check-in and head out to the canal.
Rooms
Wood finishes and denim details appear throughout the non-smoking rooms. Economy Singles are compact at 13 square meters and have showers rather than bathtubs. Doubles measure 18 to 19 square meters, while Twins offer 20 to 22 square meters and two beds.
The 28-square-meter Deluxe Twin provides more room for two people, along with a bathroom separate from the toilet and a rain shower. An accessible Double with a step-free layout is also available.
Facilities
The third-floor public baths are free for overnight guests. Both the men's and women's areas have a semi-open-air bath and Jacuzzi, while only the men's bath includes a sauna. Hours are 15:00 to midnight and 05:00 to 10:00. Bring your room key and towels.
Guests with tattoos cannot use the public baths. Paid washing machines and dryers are available on the same floor.
Dining
Kurashiki Shirakabe on the first floor serves a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet from 06:30 to 09:30, with last entry at 09:00. Lunch and dinner focus on Japanese cooking, including seafood from the Seto Inland Sea and other Okayama ingredients. Stays with dinner are available if you'd rather eat at the hotel after sightseeing.
Location and transport
The hotel is in the Kurashiki Station Area, south of the railway. From the south exit, follow Kurashiki Chuo Dori and turn right at Achi Terrace for the hotel entrance. Reception is on the third floor.
For the Sanyo Shinkansen, take a local JR Sanyo Main Line train to Okayama Station and change there. Allow time for both the local journey and the transfer when planning onward travel.
Airport access
Nonstop buses from Okayama Momotaro Airport reach Kurashiki Station's north exit in about 35 minutes. The hotel is then roughly a seven-minute walk away via the station's south side. Check the bus timetable against your flight and include the walk when planning an airport departure.
Why stay here
Short walks to both the railway and the historic quarter let you spend an arrival afternoon sightseeing without using a local bus or taxi. Compact singles suit days spent mostly out, while the larger twins provide more space for two people returning for a break.
Along the canal, white-walled storehouses and willows frame small shops selling local canvas and denim. You can stop at a cafe in a converted townhouse or buy a riverboat ticket at Kurashiki-kan for another view of the old streets.
Good to know
There is no hotel car park. The nearby municipal Achi Terrace Kurashiki car park charges separately. Check-in begins at 15:00, and check-out is by 11:00.
