Overview
A nine-story atrium with a glass ceiling rising 37 metres above the lobby gives Grand Nikko Tokyo Bay Maihama an unexpectedly open feel for a 709-room resort hotel. Balconies line the upper levels of this large Tokyo Disney Resort Official Hotel.
The hotel is four minutes on foot from Bayside Station. From there, the paid Disney Resort Line serves Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea, and Resort Gateway Station beside Maihama Station. Free buses cover the short transfer to Bayside Station and a separate route to Maihama Station.
Rooms
All 709 rooms are nonsmoking, ranging from 28-square-metre standard rooms to a 100-square-metre suite. Family rooms and bunk-bed layouts broaden the choice beyond conventional doubles and twins, with selected categories accommodating up to six guests.
Many rooms have balconies overlooking either Tokyo Bay or the resort, although the view and bed arrangement depend on the category. Top-floor Nikko rooms include access to a dedicated lounge serving drinks and snacks. Check the exact room name when capacity, lounge access, or outlook matters.
Facilities
The pool costs extra. Grand Bleu charges hotel guests to use its 25-metre indoor pool and seasonal outdoor pool, while the gym is complimentary during the stay and open around the clock.
A 24-hour shop and self-service laundry cover everyday needs after a park day. Families with infants can also use a baby-care room with nursing and changing facilities.
Dining
Le Jardin serves buffet breakfast and other meals from an open kitchen beneath the atrium. Tamakagari is a quieter sit-down alternative for sushi and tempura.
Breakfast at Le Jardin uses a numbered waiting system. Collecting a ticket early can help when a park opening matters, but the ticket doesn't reserve a fixed dining time.
Location and transport
Bayside Station is about four minutes away on foot. A free Disney Resort Cruiser covers the same route, which helps when you're carrying luggage or using a stroller. The monorail then reaches both parks and Resort Gateway Station, but its fare is separate.
Another free bus runs directly between the hotel and Maihama Station's South Exit. Timetables can change and road traffic may cause delays, so the monorail is generally the more predictable local connection. JR trains link Maihama with Tokyo Station in about 15 minutes.
Airport access
Paid airport limousine buses serve the hotel from both Haneda and Narita airports. The hotel estimates about 60 minutes from Haneda and 90 minutes from Narita under normal conditions, although traffic can lengthen either journey.
Airport bus seats should be reserved online before travel; the hotel can't make the reservation for guests. Rail travel from either airport requires transfers before reaching Maihama, followed by the free hotel bus or the paid resort monorail through Bayside Station.
Why stay here
The atrium, balcony room choices, and layouts for up to six create more of a resort experience than a compact place used only for sleeping after the parks. Families and groups can stay within Tokyo Disney Resort while keeping pools, dining, laundry, and lounge options in the same building.
Staying inside the resort makes it easier to divide Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea across separate days, with Ikspiari available outside the park gates. If the parks occupy only a small part of your trip, a hotel in central Tokyo will reduce the time spent commuting from Maihama.
Good to know
Grand Nikko is a Tokyo Disney Resort Official Hotel, not a Disney Hotel, and it isn't at either park entrance. Reaching the parks normally involves the paid monorail from Bayside Station despite the hotel's free local buses.
Check-in begins at 15:00, and check-out is by 12:00. The hotel is entirely nonsmoking, and pool admission costs extra even for registered guests.
