Overview
A five-minute walk from Kyoto Station's Hachijo Exit places DoubleTree by Hilton Kyoto Station close to the Shinkansen gates, Kintetsu trains, and airport-bus stops on the south side of the rail complex. That is the main draw.
After a long-distance arrival, you won't need another train or taxi to reach the hotel. Its 266 rooms, all-day dining, and cafe lounge also make this more than a bare-bones overnight stop.
Rooms
Room size and bathroom layout vary enough to merit a careful comparison. Queen Guest Rooms measure 19 to 22 square metres, while the 25-square-metre Triple Deluxe uses a built-in pullout bed for a third guest. The 33-square-metre Triple Premium has either three twin beds or two twins and an extra bed, plus a bath with a separate shower booth.
Executive rooms occupy floors seven to nine and include access to the top-floor Executive Lounge. Suites separate the living and sleeping areas. The most distinctive is an 81-square-metre, shoes-off Tatami Suite with two double beds and lounge access.
Facilities
The 24-hour gym and two washer-dryers are especially handy when Kyoto is one stop on a longer trip. Room service and meeting space are also available.
Drivers have 23 paid parking spaces, including one accessible space, as well as on-site EV charging. Capacity is limited, so check availability before relying on parking.
Dining
Harvest Kitchen serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the first floor. The breakfast buffet includes a Kyoto-focused Japanese section with tofu, yuba, pickles, and wheat gluten, alongside eggs cooked at a live station. Lunch and dinner turn toward seasonal local ingredients.
Grove Lounge is the more casual option for coffee, matcha, afternoon tea, light food, and evening drinks. Counter seats with power outlets and Wi-Fi also provide somewhere to work or plan the day.
Location and transport
The Hachijo side of Kyoto Station keeps the Tokaido Shinkansen and Kintetsu services close, while JR local lines and the Karasuma subway connect with the rest of the city. JR trains are particularly helpful for Fushimi Inari, Tofuku-ji, and Arashiyama, allowing several major sightseeing days to begin without a bus.
The wider Kyoto Station Area is modern and busy, with shops and restaurants inside the station and Kyoto Porta. Gion and Higashiyama still require a local ride. The better route depends on your destination and traffic, so check the trains before defaulting to the bus.
Airport access
The Haruka limited express runs directly between Kansai International Airport and Kyoto Station. Airport limousine buses from Kansai and Osaka Itami airports also serve Kyoto Station's Hachijo Exit, followed by the same five-minute walk to the hotel. There is no hotel-door airport shuttle.
Why stay here
First and last nights are easier when the Shinkansen, airport services, and dinner on site are all close to your room. Groups also have a genuine choice between a compact triple and a larger three-bed layout instead of automatically needing two rooms.
The station district rewards some time on foot, too. To-ji is west of the Hachijo side, while Higashi Hongan-ji and Nishi Hongwan-ji are north of the station. One JR stop west, the Umekoji district has a park, the Kyoto Railway Museum, and Kyoto Aquarium.
Good to know
The hotel is close to Kyoto Station but isn't directly connected. Use the Hachijo Exit rather than the Central Exit near Kyoto Tower, and allow for the walk when you're carrying luggage or the weather is poor.
