Overview
Near the Asuwa River, Dormy Inn Premium Fukui is about seven minutes on foot from Fukui Station. Central sights are within walking distance, while natural hot-spring baths on the ninth floor remain open through the night.
Rooms
Standard double rooms measure 15 square metres, queen rooms 18 square metres, and twin rooms 22.5 square metres. For three guests, 26-square-metre twin rooms add a sofa bed. The larger twins give pairs more room without requiring them to share a bed.
All rooms are non-smoking.
Facilities
The ninth-floor baths use natural hot-spring water transported from Akasaka-cho in Fukui City. An open-air bath overlooks the Asuwa River. The men's facilities include a dry sauna and cold bath, while the women's have a mist sauna.
Bathing hours run from 15:00 until 10:00 the following morning, although the saunas close overnight. Laundry facilities are on the same floor.
Dining
Breakfast at Cafe & Lounge Oasis is a Japanese and Western buffet. One local dish is Echizen oroshi soba, noodles served with grated daikon, spring onion, and bonito flakes. Breakfast runs from 06:30 to 09:30, with last entry at 09:00, and costs extra unless included in the room rate.
The lounge serves drinks and light snacks for a fee in the evening. Later, complimentary soy-sauce ramen is available from 21:30 to 23:00, so there's a late snack after dinner out.
Location and transport
The hotel is west of the tracks in the Fukui Station Area. Use the West Exit for the walk through the city center.
Hokuriku Shinkansen trains run directly to Tokyo and Kanazawa. Rail journeys from Osaka, Kyoto, or Nagoya require a transfer at Tsuruga. Local trains and buses from Fukui serve destinations beyond the center for day trips.
Airport access
Direct Keifuku buses run from Komatsu Airport to Fukui Station's East Exit, with the journey taking about an hour. From there, cross to the west side of the station and continue to the hotel on foot.
These buses connect with selected flights, and seats can't be reserved. Check the timetable against your flight and allow for road delays as well as the walk from the stop.
Why stay here
For a short stop between rail journeys, the main station and central sights are both within walking distance. The hotel isn't beside the platforms, so allow for the seven-minute street walk with luggage.
Nearby Shibata Shrine stands at the site of Kitanosho Castle. The Asuwa River is close by for a walk, with cherry blossoms along the banks in spring.
Good to know
Guests with tattoos can't use the communal baths. Check-in starts at 15:00, and checkout is by 11:00. Parking costs extra and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
