Overview
A one-minute walk from Oita Station's Funai Chuo Exit puts Dormy Inn Oita close to rail services, airport buses, and central Oita. The hotel isn't directly connected to the station, but the outdoor walk is brief.
The main reason to stay is upstairs. On the 12th floor, hot-spring water brought from Beppu supplies a bath that remains open overnight. Complimentary late-night noodles and small after-bath refreshments add a little comfort to a compact city stay.
Rooms
All 186 rooms are non-smoking, with smoking booths on the sixth and ninth floors. Singles measure 12.91 square meters, while doubles range from 14.31 to 14.56 square meters. Queen, twin, and deluxe twin rooms offer more space, reaching 23.19 square meters.
Most categories have Simmons beds, while the queen room uses an Airweave bed. The room mix is best suited to solo guests and couples. Groups have fewer choices, though there are also two triple rooms and one universal room.
Facilities
The 12th-floor bath includes indoor, open-air, and individual pot baths, plus a cold bath and dry sauna. It operates from 3:00 PM until 10:00 AM the following morning, although the sauna closes between 1:00 and 5:00 AM.
Laundry machines are on the same floor. Ice cream is available after an afternoon or evening soak, followed by a probiotic drink in the morning. They're modest extras, but the timing fits neatly around the overnight bath.
Dining
Breakfast is a Japanese and Western buffet served from 6:30 to 9:30 AM, with final entry at 9:00. Regional choices include Nakatsu-style fried chicken, marinated fish over rice, and shiitake curry, alongside smaller dishes and cooked egg options.
Complimentary soy-sauce ramen is served from 9:30 to 11:00 PM. It gives late arrivals and guests returning from dinner a simple option without another trip outside.
Location and transport
Dormy Inn Oita is in the Oita Station Area, just outside the rail complex rather than within it. AMU Plaza provides shopping and dining around the station, with more restaurants along the streets toward central Oita.
Oita Station serves the Nippo, Kyudai, and Hohi main lines. The Nippo route provides the straightforward rail connection to Beppu, while other trains continue toward Yufuin, Aso, Kumamoto, and the Hakata corridor. Oita has no Shinkansen stop, so arrivals from Honshu normally involve a change at Kokura.
Airport access
The Oita Airport bus stop is about one minute from the hotel. Airliner buses take roughly 60 minutes between the airport and Oita Station, followed by a short walk from the Oita Ekimae stop.
This is scheduled public transport, not a hotel shuttle. Traffic can affect the journey, so check the current timetable and allow extra time before an early flight.
Why stay here
The one-minute station walk, nearby airport buses, and overnight hot-spring bath simplify arrivals and early departures without giving up a proper soak. The tradeoff is an outdoor walk rather than a direct indoor station connection, though it's a short one.
Central Oita also offers enough nearby activity to fill time between trains. The Oita Prefectural Art Museum and Funai Castle ruins are within the broader walking area, while buses from the station serve Umitamago aquarium and Takasakiyama's wild monkeys. For an onsen-town atmosphere beyond the hotel bath, compare a stay in Beppu.
Good to know
Standard check-in begins at 3:00 PM, and checkout is by 11:00 AM. Contact the hotel in advance if you expect to arrive after 10:00 PM. Tattoos are prohibited in the public bath.
The mechanical car park is paid, first come first served, and subject to vehicle-size limits. If it's full, guests need to use a nearby alternative, so arriving by rail or airport bus is often simpler.
