Transport access and hotel guide

Overview

The Bikan Historical Area is a minute's walk from Dormy Inn Kurashiki, on the southern side of the Kurashiki Station Area. You can leave luggage at reception before check-in and head straight for the canal streets. The ninth-floor hot-spring baths stay open through the night.

Rooms

All guest rooms are non-smoking. Double and Queen rooms measure 15.4–16.7 square meters, while Twin rooms have 20.1–21.5 square meters. If you're sharing with a friend, a Twin gives each person a bed and more floor space.

Comfort Twins measure 24.5 square meters and accommodate three people, so they're an option if you'd rather share one room. Internal doors help reduce noise from the corridor.

Facilities

The ninth floor has indoor and open-air baths, plus saunas and cold pools for both men and women. Bathing hours run from 15:00 until 10:00 the next morning; the saunas close between 01:00 and 05:00. A relaxation area and guest laundry are on the same floor.

Tattoo restrictions apply to the public baths. Contact the hotel before booking if this affects your stay.

Dining

HATAGO on the first floor serves a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet from 06:30 to 09:30, with last entry at 09:00. Local dishes include Okayama-style scattered sushi. Breakfast costs extra unless it's included in your rate.

Between 21:30 and 23:00, guests can return to HATAGO for a free bowl of soy-sauce ramen.

Location and transport

From Kurashiki Station, use the south exit and allow about seven minutes on foot. For the Sanyo Shinkansen, take a JR Sanyo Main Line train to Okayama Station. The local journey takes about 17 minutes, but you'll also need to allow time for the transfer when planning onward travel.

Airport access

Nonstop buses from Okayama Momotaro Airport reach Kurashiki Station's north exit in about 35 minutes. Cross to the south exit, where the seven-minute walk to the hotel begins. For the return journey, check the bus timetable against your flight.

Why stay here

The short walk from the historic quarter makes a midday rest at the hotel practical. You can visit a museum in the morning, take a break, then head out for another walk after lunch.

The nearby Ohara Museum of Art displays Western paintings alongside modern and contemporary Japanese works. Kurashiki Ivy Square occupies a former spinning mill, with red-brick buildings and a pottery studio.

Good to know

Check-in starts at 15:00 and check-out is by 11:00. Parking is paid and first come, first served. The lot immediately beside the hotel is for monthly tenants, so ask reception where to park.
