Overview
About two minutes from the Hachijo East Exit and the subway's south ticket gate, Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kyoto Terrace Hachijo PREMIER keeps the Shinkansen side of Kyoto Station close. It's a convenient arrangement for a rail-heavy Kyoto trip.
That short walk matters with luggage, early trains, or a late arrival. The tradeoff is location: Gion, Higashiyama, and Kyoto's older evening streets still require a ride across the city.
Rooms
All 174 rooms measure at least 18 square meters. Most have a glass door separating the bathtub and toilet, while the Universal Twin uses a unit-bath layout.
Standard categories cover double and twin stays, with larger options for small groups. The 48-square-meter Junior Suite and Theater Room accommodate up to four guests. The Theater Room also has a home projector and a view toward the trains at Kyoto Station.
Facilities
A first-floor convenience store stays open around the clock, handy after a late arrival or before an early departure. The free fitness room operates from 05:00 to 23:00, while coin laundry is available 24 hours.
The facilities are simple but well matched to a train-centered stay: arrive by rail, spend the day exploring, and return without needing resort-style services.
Dining
Breakfast is served on the first floor from 06:30 to 10:00. The buffet combines Western dishes with Kyoto-inspired Japanese choices, plus made-to-order omelets and pancakes prepared by an automatic machine.
The restaurant serves breakfast only. For lunch or dinner, the station's dining floors and nearby commercial buildings offer a wider choice.
Location and transport
The Hachijo East Exit faces the Shinkansen side of Kyoto Station. Kintetsu services and the Hachijo bus stands are also on this side, and the Kyoto Municipal Subway's south ticket gate is about two minutes from the hotel.
JR routes simplify several common sightseeing days. The Nara Line serves Fushimi Inari and Tofukuji, the Sagano Line runs toward Arashiyama, and the Karasuma subway provides a direct north-south route through central Kyoto.
Airport access
The Haruka limited express connects Kansai International Airport with Kyoto Station in about 75 minutes, followed by the short walk on the Hachijo side. Airport limousine buses from Kansai and Osaka Itami airports stop at Kyoto Station Hachijo-guchi, also about two minutes away on foot.
These are station-based routes rather than hotel-door services. The Haruka avoids road traffic from Kansai Airport, while the limousine bus is the simpler direct public-transport option from Itami.
Why stay here
An early Shinkansen, a late rail arrival, or several day trips all become easier with Kyoto Station about two minutes away. Larger room categories and mostly separated bathing areas add comfort beyond the most basic station overnight.
The Kyoto Station Area also has sightseeing nearby. Toji lies west of the station, while Higashi Honganji and Nishi Hongwanji are to the north. The district remains modern and commercial, but a free morning or evening doesn't have to begin with a cross-city trip.
Good to know
The hotel is close to Kyoto Station but isn't connected to it. Use the Hachijo East Exit rather than the Central Exit when arriving with luggage.
Parking is limited to 17 spaces and can't be reserved. Between 00:00 and 06:00, guests need a room key to enter the building.
