Overview
APA Hotel Kurashiki Ekimae keeps rail travel and sightseeing close together. Kurashiki Station is one minute away on foot: turn right after leaving the South Exit. Reception is on the ninth floor of the adjacent Kurashiki City Plaza West Building, with guest rooms on floors 9 to 12.
The route toward the Bikan Historical Quarter begins nearby, while airport buses depart from the opposite side of the tracks. Breakfast, luggage storage, and self-service laundry cover the essentials for a short stay.
Rooms
The hotel has 246 rooms in four layouts. Singles measure 10 square metres and Doubles 12 square metres, while Twin and Triple rooms each measure 17 square metres. Triple rooms have three separate beds, allowing three guests to share without sharing beds.
Floor space beyond the bed is limited in Single and Double rooms. Every room has a private bathroom, and television casting lets guests watch compatible streaming services from their own devices.
Facilities
Automatic check-in machines and an express checkout box simplify arrivals and departures. Coin laundry and a shared microwave are available, and reception can store luggage when travel plans don't align with room access times.
There is no parking at the hotel. The affiliated paid car park is a few minutes away on foot.
Dining
Kyoto Gin Yuba serves a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet on the ninth floor from 7:00 to 9:30. Around 30 dishes are available, including Okayama-style demi-katsu rice bowls and freshly pulled yuba.
For later meals, cafes and restaurants cluster around the South Exit and continue along the covered shopping streets toward the historic quarter.
Location and transport
The hotel is on the south side of the Kurashiki Station Area. Kurashiki Station serves the JR Sanyo and Hakubi lines, and local trains reach Okayama Station in about 17 minutes. Kurashiki has no Shinkansen platforms, so most passengers using the Sanyo Shinkansen change at Okayama.
The Bikan Historical Quarter is 10 to 15 minutes on foot from Kurashiki Station. Continue south from the hotel to reach the canal, Ohara Museum of Art, and Kurashiki Ivy Square.
Airport access
Direct limousine buses connect Okayama Momotaro Airport with Kurashiki Station's North Exit in about 35 minutes. The hotel is on the opposite side of the tracks, so arriving passengers need to cross the concourse and complete the short walk from the South Exit.
The bus stops at the station rather than the hotel door. Check the current timetable against your flight, as services run less frequently than trains between Kurashiki and Okayama.
Why stay here
The one-minute walk from the South Exit eases luggage-heavy arrivals and early departures. Rooms are compact, but nearby trains provide convenient connections through Okayama and along the Sanyo Line for day trips.
The neighborhood is rewarding on foot. White-walled storehouses and willows line the Bikan Historical Quarter, while converted townhouses contain cafes and shops selling Kurashiki canvas and denim. Staying near the railway keeps the historic district within walking distance without complicating onward travel.
Good to know
Check-in takes place on the ninth floor of the Kurashiki City Plaza West Building. The affiliated Kamoi Parking is about two to three minutes away, operates on a first-come basis, and doesn't allow re-entry with the hotel's 24-hour ticket. Check-in begins at 15:00, and check-out is by 10:00.
