Overview
On the Okachimachi side of Tokyo-Ueno, APA Hotel Keisei Ueno Ekimae Minami is one minute from the shared A3 exit for Ueno-hirokoji and Ueno-okachimachi stations. Keisei Ueno is five minutes away, while the Shinobazu Exit of Ueno Station is a six-minute walk.
Opened in August 2026, the hotel has 342 non-smoking rooms. Its top floor brings together a public bath, an open-air bath, and a terrace, offering more room to unwind than the compact guest rooms might suggest.
Rooms
Standard and Cozy rooms both measure 11 square metres and have one 140-centimetre bed. The Cozy layout adds a sofa but no extra floor area, so check the floor plan rather than assuming its name indicates a larger room.
Deluxe Twins measure 22 square metres and have two 120-centimetre beds. They're more comfortable for friends sharing or guests with large cases, but there are only four of these rooms.
Facilities
The 14th-floor indoor bath uses an artificial mineral system and is joined by an open-air bath. Both are free for guests and open in the morning, then again from mid-afternoon until late at night. A terrace on the same floor faces Shinobazu Pond.
Two coin-operated laundry machines, a microwave, and an ice machine are also on the 14th floor. Water dispensers are available on guest-room floors, while automatic check-in and express checkout can shorten time at the front desk. There is no parking.
Dining
The first-floor restaurant serves three set breakfasts rather than a buffet. Guests can choose a seafood rice bowl, a Japanese breakfast centered on grilled fish, or a Western plate with an omelette, meats, bread, and salad.
Breakfast costs extra and runs from 7:00 to 10:00, with last entry at 9:30.
Location and transport
The quickest approaches are from Ueno-hirokoji on the Ginza Line and Ueno-okachimachi on the Oedo Line, each one minute away. JR Okachimachi and Yushima Station are both four minutes away, adding more route options before you need to use Ueno's larger rail hubs.
Ameyoko is close by for market shopping and casual food. Ueno Park, Shinobazu Pond, the zoo, and the museum cluster are farther north but remain reachable on foot. This south-side location is especially convenient when your plans focus on Okachimachi or subway travel rather than the park gates.
Airport access
Keisei Ueno Station is a five-minute walk away. Direct Skyliner trains run from there to Narita Airport without a rail change, although the final walk is longer than from the similarly named APA Hotel Keisei Ueno Ekimae beside Shinobazu Pond.
Journeys to Haneda normally require a transfer. Check your route against the departure time rather than treating every Ueno station as interchangeable.
Why stay here
Several rail and subway options, nearby Ameyoko, and the top-floor bathing area make it easy to return and unwind after a full day in Tokyo. The public bath is the clearest advantage, while the Shinobazu-facing terrace provides an open outlook that's unusual among the district's compact business hotels.
Room size is the main tradeoff. Standard and Cozy rooms are tight, and the four Deluxe Twins may sell out quickly. With no on-site parking, the hotel is much better suited to a Tokyo trip by train and subway than one by car.
Good to know
This is not APA Hotel Keisei Ueno Ekimae beside Keisei Ueno Station. That distinction matters. Use the A3 exit for the shortest subway walk to the Minami branch, or allow five minutes from Keisei Ueno and six minutes from JR Ueno.
