Overview
Via Inn Hakataguchi Ekimae is on the Hakata Exit side of Hakata Station, close enough for an early train, a late arrival, or a short stop between flights and rail journeys. The Hakata Exit is about four minutes away on foot, while West Exit 12a for the Airport Line is roughly three minutes from the hotel. Hakata Bus Terminal is also a short walk away.
This JR West hotel concentrates on comfortable rooms and the essentials for a city stay. Breakfast is served downstairs, coin laundry is available, and several room types have proper desk space. There's no public bath. This works best for guests who expect to spend most of the day out and want their main transport links nearby.
Rooms
All guest rooms are non-smoking. The two single categories each measure 13 square meters, but the layouts serve different needs. Single B places a large desk by the window and is the better option for work, while Single A has a more conventional arrangement.
The 15-square-meter Double has a 160-centimeter queen bed, a desk, a table, and a sofa. For two people who prefer separate beds and more bathroom space, the 21-square-meter Twin provides side-by-side beds, wooden flooring, and a separate bathroom and toilet. One 27-square-meter accessible room is also available and must be reserved by phone.
Every room has free Wi-Fi, individual air conditioning, a humidifying air purifier, bedside power, and an HDMI connection for the television. Guests can collect toiletries, coffee, and tea from an amenity station as needed.
Facilities
Paid coin laundry, a microwave, vending machines, and an ice machine are on the second floor. The facilities are modest, but they cover useful needs during a longer rail trip or after a late arrival.
The front desk can hold luggage on the day of check-in and the day of check-out. For security, the entrance is locked from 1:00 to 6:00, though staying guests can enter with their room key. Parking is limited, charged, and available by reservation only, so drivers should call ahead rather than assume a space will be open.
Dining
Breakfast is served from 7:00 to 10:00 at Kyushu Blessing Kozuchi on the first floor. Guests choose either a Japanese set with grilled mackerel or a Western morning plate, then add rice, bread, salad, and other items from the mini buffet.
The 7:00 start matters if you have a very early train. At other times, breakfast provides an easy start before crossing to JR Hakata City. Its restaurants and the streets around the Hakata Exit offer many more choices later in the day.
Location and transport
Hakata Station brings together the Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen, JR Kyushu trains, the Airport and Nanakuma subway lines, and local and highway buses. Staying on its west side is especially convenient when a trip combines an airport arrival with onward rail travel.
The exit matters. Shinkansen passengers may arrive closer to the Chikushi Exit on the opposite side of the concourse, so follow signs for the Hakata Exit before heading outdoors. The route from the subway uses West Exit 12a, which can be simpler when arriving on the Airport Line with luggage.
Airport access
From Fukuoka Airport's domestic terminal, the Airport Line runs directly to Hakata in about five minutes. From there, use West Exit 12a or cross the concourse to the Hakata Exit. The hotel doesn't operate an airport shuttle.
From the international terminal, the Nishitetsu Airport Bus takes about 15 minutes to Hakata Station, followed by the walk to the hotel. These estimates don't include waiting time, and the right option depends on which airport terminal you use.
Why stay here
Book it for an early Shinkansen, a work trip centered on Hakata Station, or a first or final night in Fukuoka. Single B is the most suitable room for desk work, while the Twin gives two guests separate beds and a separate bathroom and toilet. Look elsewhere if you need a larger room, a public bath, or full-service facilities.
There's more to explore in Fukuoka-Hakata beyond the rail hub. Hakata Old Town lies to the west, with temple grounds, shrines, and older streets around Tochoji and Kushida Shrine. It's an easy cultural detour during a stay otherwise organized around rail travel.
Good to know
Use "Hakata Exit" rather than relying only on the hotel's name when navigating the station complex. Leaving through the Chikushi Exit puts you on the wrong side of the tracks and adds an unnecessary walk with luggage. Breakfast doesn't begin until 7:00, and luggage storage before check-in and after check-out is limited to the same day.
