Transport access and hotel guide

Overview

Some upper-floor rooms look toward both Sakurajima and the Shinkansen tracks. From the West Exit of Kagoshima-Chuo Station, Toyoko Inn Kagoshima-chuo-eki Nishi-guchi is one minute on foot, keeping a late rail arrival or early departure close to the hotel.

Breakfast is included, but the short walk to the trains is the main reason to stay. Shinkansen platforms, regional JR services, and the wider Kagoshima-Chuo Station Area can all be reached without another city transfer.

Rooms

Room views vary. East-facing rooms on the eighth floor and above can look toward Sakurajima and the Shinkansen tracks, so contact the hotel when booking if that view matters to you.

Connecting-room plans link two neighboring rooms through an internal door. Families or small groups get separate beds and bathrooms without having to use the corridor, while a Heartful Room B provides an accessible option.

Facilities

Guests can use self check-in kiosks and Wi-Fi. Drivers can use a paid mechanical garage with 60 spaces, allocated on a first-come basis. Vehicle limits apply, so check the published height and width restrictions before arriving in a tall or wide vehicle.

Dining

A free buffet breakfast is served from 6:30 to 9:00. That schedule works for many morning departures, though anyone leaving before 6:30 will miss it.

For lunch or dinner, AMU Plaza Kagoshima and the nearby concourses provide restaurants and quick meal options. Tenmonkan has a broader evening scene, but reaching it requires a tram, bus, or taxi ride.

Location and transport

The West Exit is one minute away on foot. Kagoshima-Chuo is the southern end of the Kyushu Shinkansen, with trains running north toward Kumamoto and Hakata alongside JR routes around southern Kyushu.

Most city transport is concentrated on the east side of the rail complex. Cross through the concourse for streetcars and buses toward Tenmonkan, the waterfront, and other parts of Kagoshima. Those districts aren't directly outside the hotel.

Airport access

Airport limousine buses depart from the Kagoshima Chuo Terminal Building on the East Exit side, not from the hotel entrance. The direct bus to Kagoshima Airport takes about 40 minutes and doesn't require a reservation.

From the hotel's west-side location, allow enough time to cross the concourse and find the bus terminal before departure. Road traffic can also affect the journey.

Why stay here

A late Shinkansen arrival or early rail departure is easier with the West Exit only one minute away. Breakfast starts at 6:30, and paid parking helps with trips combining trains and a rental car. The main tradeoff is the east-west split: airport buses and most city transport leave from the opposite side of the rail complex.

AMU Plaza covers shopping, meals, and last-minute errands around Kagoshima-Chuo. For a day in the city, cross to the east side for streetcars and sightseeing buses toward Tenmonkan, Shiroyama, and the waterfront.

Good to know

Toyoko Inn also operates Kagoshima-chuo-eki Higashi-guchi nearby. This is the Nishi-guchi hotel beside the West Exit, so check the full name before following directions or comparing bookings.
