Overview
Toyoko Inn Hokkaido Hakodate Ekimae Asaichi is about two minutes from Hakodate Station's West Exit. JR trains, airport buses, trams, and Hakodate Morning Market are all close, though the hotel isn't inside the station complex.
This is a simple budget stay with the essentials covered. Complimentary breakfast is included, rooms follow Toyoko Inn's compact business-hotel format, and paid parking is available for drivers if the lots haven't filled.
Rooms
Room choices include singles, double rooms sold for single use, Economy Twins, and standard Twins, with smoking and non-smoking options. Singles and doubles have one bed, while the twin categories provide two separate beds.
Every room has a unit bathroom and desk. Space is geared toward short stays and early starts, so guests traveling with several large bags should compare room types carefully.
Facilities
Self-check-in kiosks help speed up arrival, and Wi-Fi is available in the rooms. The lobby also has an accessible restroom. There is no public bath or fitness room.
Parking is paid and available on a first-come, first-served basis. The multi-level garage holds 68 cars but has a height limit of 1.55 meters, while a 36-space surface lot accommodates vehicles that don't fit. Neither lot accepts reservations.
Dining
A complimentary buffet breakfast is served from 6:30 to 9:00, making it convenient to eat before an early train or flight connection.
Hakodate Morning Market provides another option close by. Its stalls and Donburi Yokocho restaurants specialize in seafood, rice bowls, ramen, fruit, and souvenirs. The hotel doesn't operate a full-service restaurant for lunch or dinner.
Location and transport
The hotel is in the Hakodate Station Area, about two minutes from the West Exit. Hakodate Liner trains run between Hakodate and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto for Hokkaido Shinkansen transfers, while Limited Express Hokuto services continue toward Sapporo.
Hakodate-Ekimae tram stop is on the station side of the district. Trams provide the main local route toward the Bay Area, Motomachi, the Mt. Hakodate Ropeway side of the city, and Goryokaku, so sightseeing doesn't have to begin with a taxi.
Airport access
Shuttle buses connect Hakodate Airport with JR Hakodate Station in about 20 minutes. The station stop is a short walk from the hotel, but the bus doesn't collect guests at the entrance.
The short final walk makes the airport bus a convenient option for most arrivals and departures. Check the current timetable against your flight schedule, especially for the first departure or a late arrival.
Why stay here
Early trains, airport-bus connections, and short stays are easier with the West Exit two minutes away. Complimentary breakfast covers a quick start, while the nearby market offers seafood or a rice bowl when there is time for a more local morning meal.
The wider area also puts the Bay Area and Motomachi on a straightforward tram route. Hakodate Morning Market is the immediate attraction, while the station provides onward connections for Shinkansen transfers, Sapporo trains, and local sightseeing.
Good to know
Toyoko Inn also operates Hakodate Ekimae Daimon nearby. Check the full hotel name before following directions, since both hotels are associated with Hakodate Station but occupy different streets.
Parking spaces can't be reserved, and the garage height limit excludes many taller vehicles. Check-in begins at 15:00, and checkout is by 10:00.
