Overview
The subway from Fukuoka Airport reaches Hakata Station in about five minutes, and The Royal Park Hotel Fukuoka is another five-minute walk from the Hakata Exit. That keeps flights, Shinkansen journeys, and rail trips around Kyushu straightforward without requiring a trip across central Fukuoka first.
The hotel is west of Hakata Station in the Fukuoka-Hakata district. JR Hakata City and Hakata Bus Terminal are beside the rail complex, while Canal City and the temple streets of Hakata Old Town are farther west but still close enough to include in a day on foot.
Rooms
Room choice starts with the bathroom layout. The 15.2-square-meter Comfort Single has a shower booth, while the 24.7-square-meter Standard Twin and most larger rooms have a bathtub with a separate washing area. Hollywood Twins can accommodate an extra bed, and the dedicated Triple Room has three permanent beds plus space for a fourth guest when another bed is added.
Corner, Superior, and Deluxe rooms provide more floor space. Standard-floor choices extend to the 39.5-square-meter Corner Deluxe Twin. All guest rooms are non-smoking, with a designated smoking space on the second floor.
A dedicated card key controls access to the eighth-floor Premium Floor. Benefits include breakfast and a one-plate, one-drink service at THE BAR. Premium rooms range from a compact single to twins, doubles, and suites, so the upgrade is about privacy and included services rather than one uniform room type.
Facilities
A self-service laundry on the second floor is helpful on longer stays or between rail journeys. The same floor contains meeting rooms and the smoking space, while ice machines are available on the fourth and eighth floors. Guest rooms have Wi-Fi.
The hotel doesn't have its own parking lot. Drivers can use nearby car parks offering preferential rates to hotel guests, but spaces aren't guaranteed and vehicle restrictions vary by facility.
Dining
Chinese Dining Precious ONO HAKATA and Bar & Lounge THE BAR share the first floor. Precious ONO HAKATA serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while THE BAR opens in the afternoon for drinks and lighter food.
Breakfast pairs a choice of four main dishes with a buffet of about 40 items, including Hakata and Fukuoka specialties. Service begins at 6:30 AM, leaving time to eat before many morning trains from Hakata.
Location and transport
Use the Hakata Exit when leaving the rail concourses. Hakata brings together the Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen, JR Kyushu trains, the Fukuoka City Subway Airport and Nanakuma lines, and buses from Hakata Bus Terminal. Rail day trips and onward journeys around Kyushu can begin here without first crossing the city.
JR Hakata City wraps around the rail complex with shops, restaurants, and Hakata Hankyu. West of the hotel, the route toward Gion leads into Hakata Old Town, where temples and older streets are only a short distance from Hakata's modern business district. Canal City adds a large shopping, dining, cinema, and entertainment complex between Hakata and the Nakasu side of central Fukuoka.
Airport access
From Fukuoka Airport's domestic terminal, take the Airport Line to Hakata and continue on foot from the Hakata Exit. The subway journey takes about five minutes, followed by the five-minute walk to the hotel.
The subway isn't directly connected to the international terminal. International arrivals can use the free inter-terminal shuttle to reach the domestic terminal and subway, or compare a direct bus or taxi to the Hakata area.
Why stay here
A location within five minutes of Hakata's rail hub simplifies Shinkansen departures, airport transfers, and day trips, while larger twin and triple rooms provide options beyond compact city layouts. Two dining venues are downstairs, and the Premium Floor adds card-controlled access, breakfast, and an evening plate-and-drink service.
The stay doesn't need to revolve around transport. Shopping and meals are available around the rail complex, while Hakata Old Town and Canal City can be added to the day without first crossing to Tenjin.
Good to know
The hotel is near Hakata Station but isn't connected to it. The Hakata and Chikushi exits are on opposite sides of the rail complex, so follow signs for the Hakata Exit before starting the walk, especially when carrying luggage.
