Overview
Breakfast, coffee, work tables, evening drinks, and guest events all come together in the first-floor CANVAS Lounge at The Royal Park Canvas Kobe Sannomiya. Open from early morning until midnight, it gives the hotel a social center beyond the guest rooms. Sannomiya subway's West Exit 1 is about two minutes away.
The west side of Kobe-Sannomiya begins outside the door. Ikuta Shrine, Center Gai, and the restaurant streets around the rail stations are close by, while the lounge offers somewhere to pause between outings.
Rooms
The 170 non-smoking rooms begin with Comfort Doubles measuring about 19 to 21 square meters. Each has a 180-centimeter-wide bed, work desk, and shower booth rather than a bathtub.
Twin rooms change the bathroom setup as well as the bed arrangement. Standard Twins measure about 22 to 23 square meters and have a bathtub with a separate washing area. Superior Twins add more storage within roughly 26 square meters, while Deluxe Twins measure about 27 to 30 square meters and can accommodate a third guest on a sofa bed. The top-floor suite is about 41 square meters and sleeps up to four guests.
Facilities
The CANVAS Lounge is available from 6:30 until midnight. Staying guests receive tea and coffee from check-in to check-out, and complimentary ice cream is served during the evening. Power outlets at the tables let the lounge double as a place to work or plan the day.
A compact guest gym on the second floor is open around the clock, though exercise clothes and shoes aren't provided. Coin laundry is on the same floor, and ironing spaces are available throughout the guest floors.
Dining
Breakfast is a guest-only buffet served in the CANVAS Lounge from 6:30 to 10:00, with last orders at 9:45. Local dishes rotate between bokkake, a Kobe-style stew of beef tendon and konjac, and a Tajima beef croquette. Bread from Kobe bakery Comme Chinois and semi-frozen Tokuren fruit jelly add two more regional touches.
From 11:00, the lounge switches to cafe and bar service until midnight, with last orders at 23:00. Kobe tea, craft beer, and Nada sake are served alongside light food.
Location and transport
West Exit 1 of Kobe Municipal Subway's Sannomiya Station is the closest approach, about two minutes on foot. Hankyu Kobe-Sannomiya's west ticket gate is around five minutes away, JR Sannomiya's West Gate about six, Hanshin around eight, and the Port Liner about nine.
Together, these services form the wider Sannomiya Station district, but their gates are separate. The subway reaches Shin-Kobe Station in one stop for the Sanyo Shinkansen. JR, Hankyu, and Hanshin serve routes toward Osaka and western Hyogo, while the Port Liner runs to Kobe Airport.
Airport access
The Port Liner travels directly from Kobe Airport to Sannomiya in about 18 minutes. From its Sannomiya station, the published walk to the hotel is about nine minutes. This is a rail connection, not a hotel shuttle.
Limousine buses from Kansai International Airport and Osaka Itami Airport reach Sannomiya stops in about 65 and 40 minutes respectively. They don't stop at the hotel entrance, so the final stretch is on foot or by taxi. Check the current timetable before traveling.
Why stay here
The lounge changes how the hotel works. There's somewhere beyond the room for breakfast, coffee, work, an evening drink, or complimentary ice cream, while the two-minute subway walk keeps local trips straightforward. The hotel isn't directly connected to the station, but the closest route is short, and room categories range from doubles to layouts for three or four guests.
Sannomiya's shopping and restaurant streets begin around the hotel, with Ikuta Shrine nearby. Walking west leads toward Motomachi, Chinatown, and the Former Foreign Settlement, connecting Kobe's central rail district with its older port-city neighborhoods.
Good to know
Comfort Double rooms have shower booths but no bathtubs. Standard, Superior, and Deluxe Twin rooms have bathtubs with separate washing areas, so room category matters if a soak is part of your evening plan.
The municipal subway is the closest rail service. Arrivals by JR, Hankyu, Hanshin, or the Port Liner involve longer outdoor walks through the wider Sannomiya district.
