Overview
THE BLOSSOM KUMAMOTO occupies floors 9 through 12 of the JR Kumamoto Station Building, with the hotel's entrance less than a minute from the station and AMU PLAZA KUMAMOTO below. Rooms average 27 square meters, and the upper floors look across the city and surrounding mountains. From some directions, the Ariake Sea is visible in the distance.
The Kumamoto Station Area lies outside the city's main castle-and-arcade core, so expect to use a tram or bus for sightseeing. In the immediate area, Shinkansen departures, airport buses, shopping, and dining are all close at hand.
Rooms
Many room choices fall within the 20- to 25-square-meter range. The 20-square-meter business double has a proper desk, while moderate doubles measure 22 to 25 square meters and combine a queen bed with a separate shower booth. Moderate twins are 23 to 24 square meters, with a sofa beside the window.
For three guests, deluxe twins measure 30 to 33 square meters and add a sofa bed, while 30- to 32-square-meter tatami twins use a futon for the third guest. Premium rooms range from 40 to 47 square meters, and the suite spans 126 square meters. Views depend on orientation, so room size and bedding are the more reliable booking filters.
Facilities
The public bath overlooks a garden and includes a sauna. It is open from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM and again from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM, leaving time for a late soak or an early visit before checkout.
A skylit fitness room is available from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM. There is also a coin laundromat on the ninth floor, useful on a longer Kyushu trip.
Dining
Senzan Bansui serves a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM, featuring ingredients such as seafood from Amakusa and produce from the Aso region. The restaurant continues through lunch and dinner, followed by bar service until 11:00 PM.
Views of the city, courtyard, and distant mountains distinguish the dining room from a standard station-hotel restaurant. AMU PLAZA and Higo Yokamon Market provide casual alternatives downstairs and beside the rail gates.
Location and transport
The first-floor entrance is less than a minute from Kumamoto Station's Shirakawa Exit, with reception reached by elevator on the ninth floor. Kyushu Shinkansen services and JR local lines are therefore easy to reach for early departures, late arrivals, and regional rail trips.
For travel within the city, use the tram stop outside the rail gates. Trams connect the station with Kumamoto Castle, the downtown shopping arcades, and Suizenji Jojuen Garden. The hotel is convenient for arriving and leaving Kumamoto, but not for walking straight into its main sightseeing district.
Airport access
The airport limousine bus from Aso Kumamoto Airport stops in front of Kumamoto Station after a journey of about 60 minutes. From the stop, continue toward AMU PLAZA and the hotel's separate entrance. The bus runs directly to the station area, not to the hotel door.
Why stay here
This address makes the most sense for an early Shinkansen, a late rail arrival, or an airport-bus transfer. The larger-than-basic station-hotel rooms, public bath, and full-service restaurant also make it comfortable for a stay of more than one night. Travelers planning most of their evenings around Kumamoto Castle and the downtown arcades may prefer a more central base.
Good to know
The hotel is beside the station but outside the ticket gates. Its first-floor entrance is separate from the main AMU PLAZA entrance, and the lobby is on the ninth floor.
