Transport access and hotel guide

Overview

A three-minute walk through an underground passage from the east side of Kagoshima-Chuo Station leads to the building shared by Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Kagoshima and the airport bus terminal. From there, dedicated hotel elevators go up to reception on the seventh floor. This route is useful with luggage or in wet weather.

Staying here keeps the Kyushu Shinkansen, regional JR trains, airport coaches, and city trams close together. AMU Plaza, taxis, and everyday shopping are also nearby in the Kagoshima-Chuo Station Area. Tenmonkan is about ten minutes away by tram, so its late-night restaurants and bars aren't right outside the door.

Rooms

Guest rooms occupy floors 8 through 14. Room direction matters here. Some categories face Sakurajima, while others look toward the station, Ferris wheel, and city lights. Check the view attached to the room type rather than assuming every room faces the volcano.

Semi-double, double, and twin layouts range from 17.7 to 35.4 square meters. Larger twin rooms can accommodate up to three guests, and many categories separate the bath from the toilet and wash area.

Facilities

Reception and the lobby share the seventh floor with the restaurant. Coin laundries on the 10th and 12th floors and water dispensers on every guest floor cover everyday needs. Each room also has a smart TV for streaming with a guest's own account.

Luggage storage is available on the day of check-in and check-out. For multi-night stays, standard room cleaning takes place every other day, although daily service can be requested by noon. Drivers use nearby partner car parks on a first-come basis; reservations aren't accepted, and overnight entry restrictions vary by car park.

Dining

KUWAHARA Kan serves a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet featuring Kagoshima dishes and local ingredients. At lunch and dinner, the menu shifts to French cooking shaped by Japanese flavors and regional produce.

The restaurant keeps an early breakfast or unhurried dinner within the building. AMU Plaza and the surrounding streets add casual restaurants, food halls, and places to pick up snacks before a train journey.

Location and transport

Kagoshima-Chuo is the city's main long-distance rail hub. Kyushu Shinkansen services run north toward Kumamoto and Hakata, while conventional JR trains continue toward Ibusuki and other parts of southern Kyushu.

For travel around the city, the Kagoshima-Chuo-Ekimae tram stop is close to the east exit, and Tenmonkan is about ten minutes away by tram. Reaching Sakurajima requires a separate ride toward the waterfront followed by the ferry, so this isn't a ferry-side hotel despite the volcano views.

Airport access

Direct buses from Kagoshima Airport arrive at the bus terminal in the same building as the hotel. The journey usually takes about 40 minutes, with departures roughly every 20 minutes, and reservations aren't required.

Road traffic can affect the timetable, so allow extra time before a flight. After the bus arrives, dedicated elevators go up to reception, with no taxi or local connection needed.

Why stay here

Early departures and luggage-heavy arrivals are the clearest reasons to stay here. Guests can reach reception from a Shinkansen or airport coach without another transfer, while a Sakurajima-facing room adds more character than a purely functional transport stop.

The tram keeps Tenmonkan within easy reach for shopping, restaurants, and an evening out. Travelers who want those streets immediately outside the door may prefer downtown, while the station side saves an extra cross-city trip when arriving or leaving.
