Overview
Oriental Hotel Fukuoka Hakata Station is designed for travelers who want the convenience of Hakata Station with a little more comfort than a simple overnight stop. The hotel is one minute on foot from the Chikushi Exit, with direct access to the subway at Hakata Station and a roughly five-minute subway ride from Fukuoka Airport.
That location works especially well for the Fukuoka-Hakata side of the city. Shinkansen departures, airport-linked stays, Kyushu rail trips, station shopping, and short Fukuoka itineraries are all easy to manage from here. The appeal is the mix of immediate station access, a wider range of room types, and shared facilities that add flexibility between travel days.
Rooms
The hotel has 221 guestrooms with a "Natural & Cool" design concept. Standard double rooms are 15.5 square meters and sleep up to two guests, while moderate twin rooms range from 19 to 21 square meters and can accommodate two to four. Superior twin rooms measure 25 to 27 square meters, and a small number of twin rooms include 14.5-square-meter balconies overlooking Hakata Station.
For more space, options include 26-square-meter deluxe double rooms and deluxe twin rooms ranging from 32.6 to 34.9 square meters, with capacity for up to five guests. That variety makes the hotel a good match for solo travelers, couples, business guests, friends, and families who want to stay close to Hakata Station rather than commute from another district.
Facilities
Guestrooms include Wi-Fi, LAN, safes, refrigerators, individual air conditioning, humidifying air purifiers, toilets with bidets, USB ports, bedside outlets, kettles, tea sets, nightwear, slippers, bottled water, and in-room drip coffee. Items available to borrow include desk lamps, adapters, trouser presses, irons, thermometers, blankets, children's slippers, and gym clothing or shoes.
On the fifth floor, overnight guests can use the executive garden from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM and a 24-hour gym. These are modest but welcome extras for a hotel so close to the station, particularly if you want somewhere to reset between train journeys or keep a light routine during a short Fukuoka stay.
Dining
Cafe and Bar Cross Point serves as a bright cafe during the day and a quieter bar in the evening. It offers original coffee, dishes using local Fukuoka ingredients, cocktails, and sweets, giving guests an easy in-house option before heading back into Hakata Station or out toward central Fukuoka.
Breakfast is served on B2F from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM, with last call at 10:00 AM. The buffet includes more than 50 items, including a thick beef burger, fresh orange juice, and local Hakata dishes made with regional produce.
Location and transport
The hotel is one minute on foot from JR Hakata Station's Chikushi Exit, the side many travelers use for Shinkansen access and nearby station hotels. Hakata Station brings together JR Kyushu lines, the Shinkansen, the Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line, the Fukuoka City Subway Nanakuma Line, shopping, dining, and bus connections in one compact area.
Nearby sightseeing is straightforward from the hotel. Canal City Hakata is about ten minutes on foot, while Kushida Shrine and Hakata Machiya Folk Museum are about eleven minutes away. Nakasu is about three minutes by subway, and Fukuoka Tower is about 25 minutes by bus.
Airport access
Fukuoka Airport access is one of the clearest advantages of staying here. The trip from Fukuokakuko Station to Hakata Station takes about five minutes by subway, followed by the short walk to the hotel.
The airport is also about 20 minutes away by Nishitetsu Bus from Platform 2, or about 10 minutes by car. For domestic-terminal arrivals, the subway is usually the simplest option. If you arrive at the international terminal, allow for the terminal transfer before heading to the subway.
Why stay here
Choose Oriental Hotel Fukuoka Hakata Station if you want Hakata Station almost at the door, easy airport subway access, room types that can accommodate more than one or two travelers, and a bit more on-site comfort than a bare-bones overnight stay. It works well for Shinkansen departures, first or final nights in Fukuoka, short Kyushu rail itineraries, business trips, and family stays built around station convenience.
Good to know
Use Hakata Station's Chikushi Exit as your arrival landmark. Hakata Station has multiple sides, and choosing the wrong exit can turn a one-minute approach into an unnecessary walk through the station area with luggage.
