La'gent Stay Hakodate Ekimae

Overview

One minute on foot from Hakodate Station, La'gent Stay Hakodate Ekimae forms part of the Hakoviva complex of shops and restaurants. Hakodate Morning Market is about four minutes away, so you can leave your bags and start exploring without taking another ride.

Pon no Yu, the shared hot-spring bath, stays open through the night. Rooms range from singles to family layouts for up to six guests. This is central Hakodate, however, not the out-of-town station served by the Shinkansen.

Rooms

The 16.3-square-meter single has a 140-centimeter-wide bed, while the 20-square-meter Standard Double has a 160-centimeter-wide bed. Both use shower booths rather than bathtubs. If you'd like to soak, use the shared bath or choose a room category with its own bathtub.

Standard Twins provide 20 square meters and two 110-centimeter-wide beds. On the top floor, the 30-square-meter Train & Ocean View rooms overlook Hakodate Station and the bay. They accommodate two or three guests, so the outlook is a reason to select that category specifically.

Families have several distinct choices. The 30-square-meter Family Ocean View rooms have bunk beds and sleep three or four guests. Premium Family rooms offer 50 square meters for four to six, along with a washer-dryer and large refrigerator. Their bathrooms include a separate washing area and bathtub, with the toilet in its own space. All guest rooms are nonsmoking.

Facilities

Pon no Yu is on the second floor, with traditional Japanese-style interiors, indoor hot-spring baths, and a sauna. The baths are open from 3 p.m. until 9:30 the following morning. The sauna closes at midnight and reopens at 5 a.m., so its hours are shorter.

Coin laundry and shared microwaves are available on the fourth, seventh, and tenth floors, and there's a convenience store on the first floor. Luggage can be left on arrival and departure days for same-day collection. This helps if you want to visit the market before check-in or take another outing before your train.

Dining

PREGALO serves a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet on the second floor, using seasonal and local ingredients. Service runs from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., with last admission at 9:30. The early start is convenient before a morning departure. If you'd rather eat at the market, check whether you've booked a room-only rate.

Main Bar Sovereign opens on the first floor from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., with cocktails among the choices. Hakoviva's restaurants add nearby alternatives, while the station area provides places to eat without requiring a separate tram trip for every meal.

Location and transport

Hakodate's railway station and tram stop are separate. JR trains are one minute away on foot, while the Hakodate-Ekimae tram stop is about three minutes from the hotel. Trams run toward the Bay Area and Motomachi, and in the opposite direction toward Goryokaku and Yunokawa.

Shinkansen passengers change at Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station for the Hakodate Liner into central Hakodate. The local train journey takes about 20 minutes. Allow time for that connection before an early bullet-train departure, since the hotel isn't within walking distance of the Shinkansen platforms.

Airport access

A shuttle bus links Hakodate Airport with Hakodate Station in about 20 minutes, depending on traffic. The hotel is roughly two minutes on foot from the station bus stop. No change is needed, but the bus stops at the station rather than at the hotel entrance.

Why stay here

Short walks from trains and airport buses keep arrival and departure days straightforward, while overnight bathing leaves time for a soak after a late return. The range of family rooms also helps groups stay together without giving up a central location.

Hakodate Morning Market is the nearby draw for seafood rice bowls and food shopping. Farther along the waterfront, the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouses combine harbor scenery with shops and restaurants. The tram also provides a convenient way to explore Motomachi's sloping streets without staying in the hillside district.

Good to know

On longer stays, rooms are cleaned once every three nights, with fresh towels delivered daily. Baby cots and bed guards aren't available, so families with very young children should plan accordingly. If you'll arrive after midnight, contact the hotel in advance because the entrance is locked overnight.
