Overview
About two minutes from Hakata Station's Chikushi Exit, JR Kyushu Hotel Blossom Fukuoka is on the Shinkansen side of the rail complex. Its Fukuoka-Hakata location keeps JR and subway services close, while the shops and restaurants of JR Hakata City are just across the concourses.
The hotel has 90 non-smoking rooms and a classic look, from the European-style lobby to brown-and-black guest rooms accented with Hakata-ori designs. Its smaller scale and distinctive style separate it from the larger Blossom Hakata Chuo on the opposite side of the rail complex.
Rooms
Room choice matters here. Standard Singles measure 15 to 19 square meters, Superior Doubles are 21 square meters, and Standard Twins are 24 square meters. The sole Deluxe Twin expands to 44 square meters, with a corner sofa and additional storage.
Wide desks provide space for work or trip planning, while Serta beds and Imabari towels add comfort. If you're carrying large suitcases, look beyond the compact single rooms and compare the double or twin layouts.
Facilities
The supporting facilities cover the main needs of a short city stay. A 24-hour coin laundry, drinks vending, an ice machine, and the smoking booth are grouped on the fourth floor. Sofas and tables in the lobby offer space for a quick meeting or a pause before heading out.
Wi-Fi is available in the rooms and lobby, and guest rooms also have wired internet. Paid parking is available, although spaces can't be reserved.
Dining
Breakfast is served at Hakata Yakiniku NURUBON in the basement. Rather than a buffet, the restaurant offers set meals such as a Wagyu beef bowl, Wagyu sukiyaki, spicy tofu stew, or a squid-and-mentaiko rice bowl. The final choice brings a distinctly Fukuoka flavor to the morning menu.
NURUBON continues through lunch and dinner as a yakiniku and Korean restaurant, so a full meal remains available in the building beyond breakfast hours.
Location and transport
The simplest arrival route starts at Hakata Station's Chikushi Exit. Walk about 150 meters along Chikushiguchi Chuo-dori, turn at the Lawson, and you'll find the hotel behind the convenience store. Subway passengers can instead use East Exit 7, about one minute away.
Hakata Station brings together the Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen, JR regional trains, the Fukuoka City Subway, and bus services. Tenjin is three stops away on the Airport Line, while the long-distance rail connections make trips elsewhere in Kyushu easy to organize.
Airport access
From Fukuoka Airport's Domestic Terminal, the Airport Line reaches Hakata Station in about five minutes and two stops. From there, the remaining walk starts at Chikushi Exit rather than at a hotel-door shuttle stop.
International Terminal arrivals can take a Nishitetsu bus to Hakata Station in about 20 minutes. Another option is the free inter-terminal shuttle to the Domestic Terminal, followed by the subway; the shuttle portion takes about 15 minutes.
Why stay here
An early Shinkansen departure, a flight connection, or a JR day trip is easier to manage from the Chikushi side of Hakata Station. The two-minute walk, wide desks, and choice of double and twin rooms also give the stay more substance than a bare-bones overnight stop.
JR Hakata City adds shopping, restaurants, a cinema, and a rooftop garden. West of the rail complex, Hakata Old Town offers streets lined with temples and shrines when you want to add local history to the trip.
Good to know
There are two Blossom hotels around Hakata Station. This is Blossom Fukuoka on the Chikushi Exit side, while Blossom Hakata Chuo is on the Hakata Exit side. Check the full name and correct exit before setting out with luggage.
The hotel isn't directly connected to the rail complex. On-site parking is first come, first served, and vehicle size limits apply.
