Overview

An indoor passage links JR Inn Hakodate with Hakodate Station, letting guests arrive from the North Exit without taking their luggage outside. Hakodate Morning Market is directly opposite, and the top floor looks across the station tracks toward the port and Mount Hakodate.

The Hakodate Station Area location is especially convenient for an early departure, a first or final night in the city, or a morning visit to the market. Motomachi and the Bay Area offer more atmosphere outside the door, but both are straightforward to reach by tram.

Rooms

Every room is non-smoking, with singles, twins, and several larger or more distinctive categories. Standard singles measure 16 square meters, standard twins are 20 square meters, and the largest twin rooms reach 34 square meters. Some face the railway, while others look toward Mount Hakodate and the market.

Check the layout before booking. Singles, standard twins, and concept rooms have shower booths, while the larger twin and universal rooms include bathtubs. Simmons mattresses are standard, and the first-floor pillow corner offers a choice of 12 pillow types while supplies last.

Facilities

The main leisure feature is the guest-only public bath on the 12th floor. Its indoor and open-air tubs look toward the port and the trains arriving at or departing from Hakodate Station. The bath opens in the afternoon and again early in the morning.

Next door, the JR Inn Lounge has its own view of Mount Hakodate. Guests can have coffee and browse more than 500 books, including travel, railway, manga, and children's titles. Coin laundry and vending machines add everyday convenience for longer stays.

Dining

Breakfast is served at Hakodate Marukatsu Suisan, a local seafood restaurant on the first floor. Its buffet features Hokkaido dishes and fresh seafood and runs from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM, with last entry at 9:30 AM.

Early risers also have the Morning Market just outside. Individual shops and restaurants keep their own hours, but many open in time for a seafood breakfast before a train or a day of sightseeing.

Location and transport

From the station ticket gates, turn right and follow the indoor passage near the West Exit to reach the hotel. That sheltered route is the clearest advantage when you're carrying luggage or arriving in poor weather.

Hokkaido Shinkansen services stop at Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto rather than central Hakodate. The Hakodate Liner completes the rail journey to Hakodate Station in about 25 minutes. For travel within the city, trams from Hakodate Ekimae serve Motomachi, the Bay Area, Goryokaku, and Yunokawa.

Airport access

Hakodate Airport has no rail link. Airport buses reach the station front in about 20 minutes, followed by a short indoor walk to the hotel. Check the current timetable before an early flight or late arrival.

Why stay here

The indoor station connection takes much of the effort out of a train-to-room transfer. Together with the market-side location, rail views, and top-floor bath, it makes an early start or a tightly timed rail itinerary easier to manage.

The tradeoff becomes clearer after dark. Motomachi or the Bay Area may appeal more if you want historic streets or harbor walks immediately outside, while the station district favors luggage handling, onward travel, and early departures.

Good to know

Bring your room key and towels from your room when visiting the public bath. For the Morning Market, go early: hours vary by shop, and many businesses wind down by early afternoon.
