Overview
A route through AEON Mall leads from Asahikawa Station to JR Inn Asahikawa's dedicated elevator and fifth-floor reception. The connection is especially helpful during winter arrivals or when you're carrying luggage, and it keeps shopping and meals within the same complex.
Rooms are compact, but the public bath, lounge and pillow selection add comfort between journeys. The surrounding Asahikawa Station Area is geared more toward rail and bus connections than doorstep sightseeing. From here, itineraries can continue by bus to Asahiyama Zoo or by rail toward Biei and Furano.
Rooms
Most rooms measure 17 sq m. Single and semi-double rooms have a 140 cm bed, while Economy Twin rooms place two 110 cm beds in the same amount of space. These categories have shower booths rather than bathtubs.
The 24 sq m Twin and 27 sq m Large Twin rooms provide more floor space and a bathtub. Large Twin rooms can accommodate three guests with a sofa bed. There's also a 30 sq m universal room for up to three guests, which should be requested directly when booking.
Facilities
The fifth-floor public bath is open from 15:00 to 01:00 and again from 05:00 to 10:00. Guests bring towels from their rooms and may wear the provided loungewear and slippers to the bath.
Complimentary coffee is available in the JR Inn Lounge, along with space to read, work or plan the day. The lobby pillow corner has about 20 pillow types, subject to availability. Coin laundry on the same floor is helpful during longer stays.
Dining
Breakfast is served from 06:30 to 10:00 at Grand Farm Buffet on AEON Mall's fourth floor. That early start leaves time to eat before catching a train or zoo bus, and the indoor mall connection keeps the route short.
There isn't an in-house dinner restaurant. AEON Mall is the simplest option for an evening meal, while more restaurants extend north from the station into central Asahikawa.
Location and transport
Asahikawa Station provides connections to Sapporo and regional routes across northern and central Hokkaido. The Furano Line is the key link for Biei and Furano, so staying connected to the station shortens the gap between breakfast, checkout and an early train.
Direct buses to Asahiyama Zoo leave from stop 6 outside the station's North Entrance on the east side. The journey takes about 40 minutes. A zoo visit is possible without renting a car, although the attraction is far beyond walking distance from the hotel.
Airport access
Buses from Asahikawa Airport reach Asahikawa Station in about 30 to 40 minutes. This isn't hotel-door transport, but the station stop leaves only the connected walk through the mall to reception. Airport coaches are timed around flights, while local buses aren't, so check the current schedule before an outbound journey.
Why stay here
The direct station-and-mall connection is most valuable in winter, with luggage or before an early train. The tradeoff is clear: rooms are compact and facilities aren't resort-style, but the walk from the station is short, regional transport is close and the public bath offers a welcome place to unwind.
For a walk nearby, Heiwa-dori Kaimono-koen begins about five minutes from Asahikawa Station and continues north past shops, restaurants and public art. The promenade adds some local street life without taking you far from the transport hub.
Good to know
Check-in begins at 15:00, and check-out is by 10:00. Luggage storage is limited to the check-in and check-out dates. Drivers can use AEON Mall Asahikawa Ekimae parking; the hotel rate is 800 yen for up to 24 hours from entry and is paid at reception.
