Overview
Natural hot-spring baths overlook Asahikawa from the 17th floor of Hotel Route-Inn Grand Asahikawa Ekimae. Down at street level, Asahikawa Station's North Exit is about two minutes away on foot, easing rail arrivals, luggage-heavy journeys, and early starts.
The 342-room hotel is located in the Asahikawa Station Area. From the station, trains run toward Sapporo, the Furano Line serves Biei and Furano, and buses provide the main public-transport route to Asahiyama Zoo.
Rooms
Most standard rooms are compact. Singles measure 13 square metres, doubles 15 square metres, and twins 18 square metres. Larger options include a 34-square-metre superior twin and a 37-square-metre room for four. A 22-square-metre barrier-free single must be reserved by phone.
Smoking conditions vary by category. Some rooms permit heated tobacco, and a small number of non-smoking rooms share a floor with a smoking corner. If you're sensitive to smoke, check the exact room and floor conditions before booking.
Facilities
Separate men's and women's baths occupy the top floor, with city views and a sauna on each side. The Tenninkyo hot-spring water is diluted, heated, and circulation-filtered. Bathing hours run from 15:00 to 2:00 and again from 5:00 to 10:00, so both late arrivals and early risers can fit in a soak.
Coin laundry is available for longer trips, while luggage storage helps before check-in or after check-out. A convenience store on the first floor covers quick food and drink purchases.
Dining
La Mer serves a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet with hot dishes and freshly baked breads. Regular hours are 6:30 to 9:30, with breakfast beginning at 6:00 from July 1 through October 1.
For dinner, head into town. The hotel restaurant serves breakfast rather than an evening meal, and the streets north of the station provide other options.
Location and transport
Asahikawa Station is the city's main rail hub. Limited express trains provide the key link with Sapporo, while local and regional services support travel through central and northern Hokkaido. Take the Furano Line for Biei and Furano.
Asahiyama Zoo isn't nearby, but the route is straightforward. Buses leave from stop 6 at Asahikawa Station and take about 40 minutes. The short walk back to the hotel is helpful, but you'll still be staying in central Asahikawa rather than near the zoo.
Airport access
Asahikawa Airport buses reach the city in roughly 30 to 40 minutes, while direct local services to Asahikawa Station take about 35 minutes. No bus stops at the hotel door, but the final walk from the station is short.
Flight-timed airport buses and regular local buses follow different schedules. Check the current service before departure, particularly for an early flight.
Why stay here
The short walk to rail connections simplifies early departures and luggage-heavy arrivals, while the natural hot spring and saunas provide a welcome place to unwind afterward. Compact standard rooms and the lack of hotel dinner service are the main tradeoffs.
Heiwa-dori Kaimono-koen begins near the station and stretches north for about one kilometre, with shops and restaurants along the pedestrian street. The zoo remains a bus ride away, but central Asahikawa is easy to explore on foot after you return.
Good to know
Paid tower parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to mechanical size limits. Taller or longer vehicles may not fit, and motorcycles aren't accepted.
