About three minutes on foot from the North Exit of Karuizawa Station, Hotel Grand Vert Kyu Karuizawa keeps rail arrivals simple, even with luggage. Bags can be stored before check-in and after checkout.

At the top end, the single 200-square-meter Grand Room sleeps nine and has four bedrooms, a kitchen, terrace, and projector. All guest rooms are non-smoking, with bathrooms that separate the tub from the washing area.

Facilities

More than 2,000 books fill the library, and guests may borrow them to read in their rooms. The fireplace is lit during winter. Welcome drinks are available in the morning and evening.

Rental bicycles offer a way to explore beyond the station area without a car. The hotel also holds Welcome Baby certification and provides infant equipment on request.

Dining

Breakfast arrives at the room in a picnic basket rather than being served as a buffet. Guests choose an egg dish or hot sandwich, with bread, sides, and drinks.

In-room delivery avoids the need to coordinate a fixed breakfast seating, which can be helpful for families and groups sharing a larger room.

Location and transport

The hotel is on the north side of Karuizawa Station Area. Direct Hokuriku Shinkansen trains connect Tokyo and Karuizawa in roughly 70 minutes, while Shinano Railway serves local trips toward Naka-Karuizawa, Komoro, and Ueda.

The three-minute walk makes arrival and departure straightforward. By car, the hotel is about 20 minutes from Usui-Karuizawa Interchange, though parking must be arranged in advance.

Why stay here

Luggage storage and the short station walk take some of the strain out of Shinkansen travel days. Rooms for three to nine guests give families and groups an alternative to booking several standard rooms, while couples can choose 27-square-meter doubles or twins.

Across the tracks, Karuizawa Prince Shopping Plaza has more than 200 stores. In the opposite direction, Old Karuizawa Ginza is a 750-meter street lined with long-established bakeries, coffee shops, souvenir stores, and places to eat. Buses from the station and hotel bicycle rentals provide alternatives to walking.

Good to know

Guest parking is free but requires a reservation. Spaces are limited, and some drivers may be directed to a second parking area.

Heating and cooling modes are centrally controlled, so guests can't switch between them independently in their rooms. Fans, heaters, and blankets are available to borrow. There is no self-service coin laundry, but the hotel provides a paid laundry service.
