Overview
A 30-second walk from Hakata Station's Chikushi Gate puts Hotel Clio Court Hakata almost at the Shinkansen doors. Rail arrivals, early departures, and airport connections are easy to manage here, especially with luggage. The station-side setting is the point.
Rooms are another reason to look beyond location alone. All 177 are larger than 21 square metres, and the choices extend from doubles and twins to layouts for three or four guests. That range is generous for a hotel in Fukuoka-Hakata.
Rooms
Room choice matters more than usual here. Standard doubles start at 21 square metres, twins at 25, and three-bed rooms at 25. At the upper end, a 75-square-metre connecting room sleeps up to four.
Japanese-style, Japanese-Western, and barrier-free layouts broaden the options. Couples and small groups can stay beside the station without accepting the tightest city-room arrangements.
Facilities
The third-floor front desk is staffed around the clock, and automated check-in and check-out machines are available. Luggage can be left before check-in and after check-out.
Guest floors have coin laundry, microwaves, ice machines, and drink vending machines. These cover the everyday details that matter after a late arrival or during a longer stay without turning the hotel into a full-service resort.
Dining
Breakfast is served in Cafe d'Erté from 7:00 to 10:00. The buffet combines Japanese and Western staples with Kyushu dishes, freshly baked bread, and food prepared at a live cooking counter. The cafe remains open later for lunch and coffee.
Hakata Akaraku is a separate Japanese restaurant serving lunch and dinner. Its menu focuses on seasonal Kyushu ingredients, with options such as sashimi, hot pots, and multi-course meals.
Location and transport
The Chikushi Gate is on the Shinkansen side of Hakata Station, so the short walk is particularly helpful for Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen trips. JR regional services and the Airport and Nanakuma subway lines also meet at Hakata. The bus terminal is about three minutes from the hotel.
Exit choice matters. The hotel is by the Chikushi Gate and subway East 5 exit, while the Hakata Exit is on the other side of the rail complex. Heading for the correct side avoids an unnecessary station crossing with bags.
Airport access
Airport Line trains run directly from Fukuoka Airport's domestic terminal to Hakata, with the subway ride taking about five minutes. From Hakata, continue through East 5 or toward the Chikushi Gate.
The subway isn't attached to the international terminal. International arrivals first need the airport's free inter-terminal shuttle to reach the domestic terminal and subway station, or another bus route into the city.
Why stay here
An early Shinkansen departure or luggage-heavy arrival is easier from this side of the tracks. The larger rooms and a restaurant serving lunch and dinner also make a transport-focused stay more comfortable when there isn't much time to explore.
JR Hakata City puts shops, restaurants, a cinema, and a rooftop garden at the station. West of the rail complex, Hakata Old Town shifts toward temples, shrines, and older merchant history, so a train-centered stay can still include local sightseeing.
Good to know
The entrance is outside the station rather than internally connected. If you're driving, reserve the limited basement parking in advance; vehicles over 1.9 metres high cannot enter.
