Overview
Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo is a full-service IHG hotel near Gojo Station, about three minutes on foot from the subway and one stop north of Kyoto Station. It is a good match for travelers who want the Karasuma Line close by, a little distance from the main station crowds, and more in-house facilities than a simple business hotel usually provides.
The hotel places guests between Kyoto Station and the shopping and sightseeing areas of central Kyoto. Higashi Honganji and Nishi Honganji are nearby temple landmarks, while Kawaramachi, Nishiki Market, Gion, and Kiyomizu-dera are better planned by subway, bus, taxi, or a longer walk.
Rooms
The hotel has 183 rooms across 13 floors. Standard rooms range from 18 to 24 square meters, with twin, king, and super king bed options. The one-bedroom suite is 47 square meters and has two twin beds.
Rooms include free Wi-Fi, smart TVs, pillow options, mini fridges, coffee and tea makers, and safes. Accessible room features and cribs are available in limited or request-based cases, which is worth checking in advance for families or travelers with accessibility needs.
Facilities
The facilities add more depth than many straightforward stays around Gojo. The top-floor public bath is a highlight, offering city views after a day out in Kyoto. Guests also have access to a fitness center, daily housekeeping, Wi-Fi, foreign currency exchange, luggage storage, business services, and laundry support.
The hotel is smoke-free and has meeting and banquet rooms, including a room that can be arranged for up to 130 people. General parking is not available. Parking is reserved for guests requiring assistance, and advance contact is recommended.
Dining
Dining centers on BONDO and the lobby cafe bar. BONDO serves a breakfast buffet with international dishes and selected local specialties, with breakfast listed from 6:30 am to 10:30 am.
On the first floor, BONDO Cafe & Bar offers lighter meals, snacks, and drinks in the lobby. Holiday Inn's Kids Stay and Eat Free offer is also relevant for families: children aged 12 and under can receive complimentary breakfast when accompanied by an adult ordering breakfast.
Location and transport
Gojo Station is the main transport link. From there, it is one stop to Kyoto Station on the Karasuma Line, making arrivals by Shinkansen, JR lines, airport train, or airport bus fairly straightforward with a short subway transfer. A taxi from Kyoto Station is also an easy option when luggage or weather makes the subway less appealing.
The surrounding Kyoto Shijo-Karasuma corridor is convenient rather than especially atmospheric. It works well for travelers who want subway access, easy reach of downtown, and a quieter place to return to than the busiest shopping and nightlife blocks.
Airport access
Airport access is by public transport or taxi connections rather than a hotel shuttle. Shuttle service is not available for Kansai International Airport or Osaka International Airport.
For most airport arrivals, Kyoto Station is the transfer point. From there, continue one subway stop to Gojo or take a taxi from the station. The route is manageable, though a hotel directly beside Kyoto Station will still be simpler for the shortest airport transfer.
Why stay here
Choose Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo if you want a central Kyoto stay with IHG familiarity, a public bath, on-site dining, family-friendly meal support, and simple subway access to Kyoto Station. It is especially appealing if Gojo's calmer Karasuma Line setting sounds better than staying directly at the main rail terminal or deep in Gion.
Good to know
This is a near-station hotel, not one connected directly to the subway. Plan on a short walk from Gojo Station, and consider a taxi from Kyoto Station if you are arriving with heavy luggage. The name refers to subway Gojo Station, not Kiyomizu-Gojo Station on the Keihan side.
