The bathroom layout is another advantage. Except in universal rooms, a glass door semi-separates the bathtub from the toilet, and the bath area includes an overhead shower. Couples and guests sharing a room gain more flexibility than they would with a conventional compact unit bathroom.
Facilities
Same-day luggage storage is particularly helpful if you want to leave your bags behind and walk to the castle. The guest gym is open from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM, while the coin laundry operates around the clock.
Drivers can use 52 on-site parking spaces for 1,200 yen per stay, from 2:00 PM to 11:00 AM. Spaces can't be reserved, and vehicles exceeding the published size limits may need to use a nearby partner car park.
Dining
Breakfast is served at Kichifuku on the first floor from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM. The Japanese and Western buffet has regional touches, including Himeji-style oden with ginger soy sauce, almond-butter toast, and hand-stretched noodles.
Kichifuku also opens for lunch and dinner, serving tempura, seasonal dishes, wine, and local sake. It's a convenient in-house option for late arrivals or tired sightseers who don't want to search for another restaurant.
Location and transport
The hotel is in the Himeji Station Area, about five minutes on foot from both JR Himeji and Sanyo-Himeji stations. JR Himeji serves the Sanyo Shinkansen and regional trains, while Sanyo-Himeji is a separate station for Sanyo Electric Railway services toward Kobe and Osaka.
Himeji Castle and Kokoen are each about 13 minutes away on foot. The location keeps the main sightseeing route close without sacrificing convenient access to the next Shinkansen or regional train.
Airport access
Airport buses serve Himeji Station rather than the hotel door. Direct buses from Kansai International Airport take roughly two hours and five minutes to two hours and 20 minutes, while the journey from Osaka Itami Airport takes about 80 minutes.
Allow another five minutes to walk from the station bus stop to the hotel. If the bus timetable doesn't suit your flight, rail travel from Kansai Airport normally requires a change in Osaka or Shin-Osaka.
Why stay here
An overnight stay gives a castle visit more room and comfort without taking you away from the Sanyo Shinkansen corridor. The larger layouts, semi-separated bathrooms, luggage storage, and early breakfast matter most when Himeji is one stop on a longer journey.
Himeji Castle is both a National Treasure and a World Heritage site. Neighboring Kokoen contains nine walled gardens inspired by Edo-period styles, so the two form a natural sightseeing pair before you return to the station side of town.
Good to know
The hotel isn't directly connected to either rail station. Parking is first come, first served, and airport buses use Himeji Station, so allow a little extra time when arriving with luggage.
