Overview
On the west side of Kobe-Sannomiya, APA Hotel Kobe Sannomiya Ekimae is about one minute from the subway's West Exit 3. Hankyu is roughly four minutes away and JR about six, so the most convenient approach depends on the operator you use.
This compact city hotel focuses on location and efficient basics. All 176 rooms are non-smoking, breakfast is served downstairs, and both Ikuta Shrine and the Center Gai shopping streets are within an easy walk.
Rooms
Standard rooms measure 11 square meters and have a 140-centimeter-wide bed. Double rooms provide slightly more floor space at 12.9 square meters. At 22 square meters, the Deluxe Twin is the clear step up for two guests who want separate beds and more room.
Room choice matters. The standard categories are designed for short stays rather than spreading out, though under-bed storage helps keep a suitcase out of the way.
Facilities
Automatic check-in machines and express checkout simplify arrival and departure. On the first floor, guests will find one self-service washing machine, an ice machine, and a microwave. The hotel has no parking of its own or affiliated parking, so drivers need to use a nearby paid lot.
Dining
Noble urus serves a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet on the first floor from 7:00 to 10:00, with last entry at 9:30. Beef stew is the featured dish. For lunch, dinner, or drinks, the surrounding Sannomiya streets provide a much broader selection of restaurants and bars.
Location and transport
The one-minute walk applies specifically to West Exit 3 of the Kobe Municipal Subway Seishin-Yamate Line. Hankyu Kobe-Sannomiya's west ticket gate is about four minutes away, JR Sannomiya's West Exit about six, and the Port Liner roughly nine. These stops share one transport district, but they don't share gates.
From Sannomiya Station, Shin-Kobe Station is one subway stop north for the Sanyo Shinkansen. JR, Hankyu, and Hanshin also run east-west routes toward Osaka and western Hyogo.
Airport access
For Kobe Airport, take the Port Liner to Sannomiya and complete the journey on foot. The hotel's access guidance estimates about 40 minutes in total. This is a rail connection, not a hotel shuttle.
Limousine buses from Kansai International Airport and Osaka Itami Airport stop around Sannomiya rather than at the hotel entrance. The airport bus stop is about 11 minutes away on foot, so allow for that final stretch when carrying luggage and check the current timetable before travel.
Why stay here
Quick subway access and a central Sannomiya address are the main advantages, while compact rooms are the tradeoff. The location can simplify a short city stay, an early Shinkansen connection through Shin-Kobe, or an itinerary using several of Kobe's rail operators.
Once the day's travel is over, Center Gai and Ikuta Shrine are close by. Walking west leads toward Motomachi, Chinatown, and the Former Foreign Settlement.
Good to know
APA Hotel Kobe Sannomiya Ekimae is not the same as APA Hotel Kobe Sannomiya. The latter is a separate hotel on Gokodori, east of the station cluster, so check the full name and address before setting out.
